The bizarre, byzantine and brilliant rules for naming new stuff in space

Landforms on Saturn’s moon Titan are styled after places in the "Dune" series and J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth. On Jupiter's moon Io, nearly everything must have a name associated with fire, volcanoes, or Dante’s “Inferno.” So says the International Astronomical Union, the official arbiter of planetary and satellite nomenclature since 1919.
