These ordinary people are stepping in to keep the peace in Nigeria’s deadly land feuds

The country’s police and security forces are underequipped and underpaid, so vigilante groups have proliferated out of necessity. They fill a giant law enforcement vacuum, but they also represent a homegrown approach to peacekeeping.
