On one small-town cul-de-sac in the western part of one of the reddest states in America, the differences splitting the country played out Thursday between neighbors Kerri Schnase-Berge and Laynette Van Anne, who both awaited the Supreme Court nomination hearing with a sense that the stakes couldn’t be higher.
