D.C. voters approved a wage hike for tipped workers. Lawmakers might face pressure to void it.

The District’s political leadership has expressed opposition to Initiative 77, which would raise tipped workers’ wages to $15 by 2025, and restaurateurs and workers are expected to pressure lawmakers to halt its enactment. The drama of the ballot initiative came on a day when many lawmakers, including Mayor Muriel E. Bowser, cruised to primary victories.
