Afghanistan extends cease-fire with Taliban as fighters join civilians to celebrate Eid

The extension of the truce with insurgents was aimed to build on the success of the cease-fire’s first day, when thousands of Taliban joined civilians and security officials in celebrating the holiday following the end of Ramadan.
